3 weeks from tomorrow?!!!

Wow, time really does fly.

I realize I've been horrible about updating this blog, but we've been busy.

We sold my condo, moved, were homeless for 2 weeks (stayed with friends and family), and moved again this last weekend. We're going to stay put for awhile!

So that's the life update, now on to the wedding.

in the past month, we:
1) met with church contacts to start planning the ceremony
2) confirmed menu with the caterer
3) started planning the music for the reception
4) got our marriage license!
5) met with the photographers
6) started planning church and wedding flowers
7) started a checklist of all the little things that still need to be done. yikes!

Thanks to everyone for the support during this busy time!

See you VERY soon!

We've Moved!

We're homeowners! Our new address:
9620 SW Cypress Street
Beaverton, OR 97005
We moved in over the weekend and have started working away on making this house our own.
Zack's now completed 4 home projects! It's fun to be able to make something our own.

visiting the winery...

It seems like I've been visiting a lot, but there's so much planning involved. It really has helped to see the site at different times of the year.

We went in early spring and the vines were bare:

I went again this weekend with my parents and Ira, my friend and planner extraordinaire.

It was beautiful and the vines have grown so much since the last visit. We figured out table arrangements and some other logistics. We had enough time to spare that we were able to taste some wines as well.

Registries

It seems like the days are just flying by lately. This past weekend, Zack and I spent a lot of time focusing on the wedding.

We updated our registries at:

http://www.crateandbarrel.com/Gift-Registry/

and

http://macys.weddingchannel.com/catalog/fds/macysDivisionalHome.action

So far, we just have these 2 registries. We were hoping to register at Home Depot too since we're going to be new home owners, but they're not accepting registries. Still need to figure out a third registry....stay tuned.

Family Time

We got to spend some quality time with Zack's family a few weekends ago.

Zack's grandpa was in town, and it was perfect timing, as we were able to celebrate father's day!

Congrats to Maggie on her graduation and amazing job at her dance recital.

a few changes....

I've officially changed colors: navy and orange have become our colors.... for now.
This change will definitely affect flower choices, but I'm excited about the change.

2 more items to check off the list:
1) we have our bridesmaid dresses. yeah!
2) we put down a deposit for our cake at Beaverton Bakery. Still working on flavors and designs but it was a big decision.

Invitations are currently being printed. I can't believe how everything is starting to come together.

Groom's Party:

cake, cake and more cake?

This past Saturday I got to spend some quality time with Zack and we actually did something related to the wedding: cake tasting!

We tasted at 2 places in Beaverton- the typical Beaverton Bakery and the Dessert Tray. The Dessert Tray gave us a slice of each that we wanted to try. We were respectful of their kindness and did not taste as many as I would have liked.... we'll save those other ones for next time.

No decisions so far- I think we both realized we're not big into cake. There are so many options though, so it may be that it's all a little overwhelming too. Hopefully we'll have a decision by the end of the month. We're only 4 months away from our wedding- time is flying by!

Other than that, we spent some quality time Saturday afternoon, relaxing on the deck in the sun, margaritas in hand. Thanks Zack. Hopefully we will have more days like this as the weather gets better.
and sorry for the lack of pics. i'm trying to get better.

Yeah, we passed!

Zack and I are happy to inform you that we received our certificate of completion for our couples' retreat this weekend. We are glad to check yet another item off the to-do-list.

All the Little Things

A picture from last Xmas for those of you who complain that I need more pics. :)

I'm now realizing how many details make up a wedding! Now that the major items are taken care of, I have started making a to-do list for all the smaller items. So far I have 22 items on my new list! I'm definitely starting to pay more attention to time.

To-do this week (all church related):

-order baptismal certificates for both of us for OLL requirements
-church couples counseling Friday morning
-church couples retreat Friday and Saturday

A Break From Planning

This past weekend we enjoyed the break from wedding planning. We met both sets of parents up at the winery to check out the site again. It was a great reason to enjoy the sun and some WINE on a beautiful day.
I can't wait for September, when the vines are full of grapes!

wedding fun and more...

wedding fun....
This past weekend we attended my girlfriend's wedding. It was the first wedding we had attended as an engaged couple and it's amazing how much more attention I paid to EVERYTHING. Zack was a good sport listening to my comments all night.

and more....
Thanks to Miss (Ira) Thio, we're several steps closer to finalizing our invitations. Zack and I met with her on Sunday to review several mock ups. I was very excited about them all and am glad that I have such a great friend to create them.

One more step...

We've booked our florist, Flowers for You. She did a great job walking me through my options.
We'll be going with an array of red and orange flowers. Great color pops for our base color- brown.

Back to it....

Let the planning re-commence.

After much deliberation, we have finally set the date for our wedding: September 12, 2009. We're planning on an outdoor reception so hopefully Mother Nature will cooperate.

You can learn more about our reception site by visiting:
http://oswegohills.com/

We're really starting to get the details all set. I'm still waiting for the cake tasting though- Zack's in charge of that part.

More to come!

ahhhh, wedding planning

I never thought wedding planning would be easy, but I didn't expect it to be this stressful.
We're now in week 2 of planning and we've made a few steps forward.
#1) we're thinking Sept. 12th or 19th 2009.
#2) narrowing down photographers and ceremony and reception sites. We're definitely thinking local

I know this is just the start of the process and I've got a great support group.

Everyone keeps telling me to look forward to the cake tasting. I'm ready for that!

It's official....

We're getting hitched!

Zack surprised me on December 29th while we were wine tasting at Cathedral Ridge in Hood River. I wouldn't have wanted it any other way- wine tasting, champagne, and Zack down on one knee.

Thanks to all for the congrats.
